Also known as Khwopa (Nepal Bhasa: ख्वप Khwopa), it is an ancient Newa city in the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, about 8 miles (13 km) from the capital city, Kathmandu. It is located in Bhaktapur ( Khwopa ) District in the Bagmati Zone. It is administratively divided into 10 wards.

This is the holy place of Hinduism. You can see great view from here and visit around for more fun but this place is expensive. To be noted: This place was in great condition after earthquake of 2072 BS and some fractures are rebuild.

Probably the highlight in Bhaktapur

This temple is located in Durbar Square and is for me the highlight and most beautiful temple in Bhaktapur. You also have the chance to go up, where you also have a nice over the whole place. But careful it is steep and not suitable for people with vertig

The main attraction to the heritage of Bhaktapur

Without a doubt the highlight of the bhaktapur heritage tour. People queue up to get their photo taken at the historic steps. Worth just sitting there for a while and taking it all in.

Our "tour guide" completely ignored the Bhairavnath temple to spend time showing us the much more famous 5-story temple next door...until I started photographing Bhairavnath. Then he eagerly told us about the entrails hanging on the outside of it.
