Chaozhou (Chinese: 潮州), alternatively transliterated as Chiuchow, Chaochow, or Teochew, is a city in the eastern Guangdong province of China. It borders Shantou to the south, Jieyang to the southwest, Meizhou to the northwest, the province of Fujian to the east and the South China Sea to the southeast. It is administered as a prefecture-level city with a jurisdiction area of 3,110 square kilometres (1,200 sq mi) and a total population of 2,669,844. Along with Shantou and Jieyang, Chaozhou is part of the Chaoshan region.

Relaxing place

The Han Wen Temple isn't the most famous or beautiful attraction in the world, but it's not bad. Nice place to go and relax for awhile if you happen to be in Chaozhou. Get there before 8am and you don't have to pay an entry fee.

Windy and relaxed

I flew from Kuala Lumpur to Chaoshan airport and took a train to Xiamen. I was in Xiamen for 3 days and on my return to Shantou, I visited Chaozhou. The bus from the Chaoshan bullet train station to Chaozhou city cost me RMB 8. Chaozhou did not impress me

Ancient lane

Old houses line both sides of the alley. Really great for photography. There are several plaques describing some of the note worthy houses. Bring umbrella if you are visiting during June. And mosquito repellent.
