It is the seat of the Montérégie administrative region and the central city of the urban agglomeration of Longueuil. It sits on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River directly across from Montreal. The population as of the Canada 2016 Census totalled 239,700, making it Montreal's second largest suburb, the fifth most populous city in Quebec and twentieth largest in Canada.

A nice and calm place full of artwork

A small unique gem!
My husband and I had a wonderful visit to the women’s museum. It is definitely not what one would expect to find in a 1950’s bungalow, but very worth the stop. I especially enjoyed the exhibit in the basement covering the history of la femme québécoise. T

Fun place for a beer
This is a great place to learn about new local beers and meet people. 16 beers on tap à a decent selection of fine whiskeys. And the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Well Kept Church & Cemetery

Tiny historic church--doubt that it seats more than 100--set in a park in charming Vieux-Longueuil. Worth a visit, if you're in the area. Anglican, which makes it a rarity among Québec historic churches, which are nearly all Catholic.
