Beautiful Beach with a difference

Great views and scenery of Lake Superior. Grab a coffee and sit on the rocks and enjoy. The day we went it was early morning and quite foggy. It was very cool seeing the fog. Walking on all the rocks was fantastic. The rocks are so round and smooth. Never

Great Lake and Quiet Campground

We had reserved 2-nights in one of their 2 pull through, full service sites. No staff are on site, except maintenance personnel. On arrival, we noted a tag on a site with our name and dates. Problem was another coach was in the site and nobody was home.We

Driftwood and sand

A beautiful fine sand beach with lots of driftwood, clear water and zero crowds. A short drive down a gravel road. There are washroom facilities. There are several large rocks that can be walked to in the lake that are great places to relax and tan. Quiet

In about twenty kilometers of Marathon is Mink Creek Falls. Small tortuous path in the middle of nowhere surrounded with a fall in the speeds of waterfalls. A beautiful place to unwind legs...

Hawks Ridge

Well used trail with great view

The first part of the trail is a little frustrating as it is so chewed up and muddy as it is likely a shared ATV trail. However further in it is more a hiking trail with a nice slow climb to the top and a pretty view. Can be a little confusing as it also

Great for restocking ! Great staff at grocery store !

Have stopped here twice now while camping... The grocery store had everything we needed for restocking , and the staff were amazing... our cashier was bilingual & chatted en francais with my husband, and then 3 weeks later when we stopped in on our return

Marathon District Museum

The Marathon and District Museum showcases the areas unique history. Since the building of the rail in 1881 Marathon has had an exciting history. Once known as the "wickedest town in the North" and being surrounded by POW camps for German POW's as well as interned Japanese Canadians, the museum is sure to have something to interest everyone. Feature exhibits include the pulp mill and gold mines.

A Nice Place to Visit While In Marathon

A nice little museum with a very knowledgeable docent that provides a good understanding of Marathon's history. There are also a number of interesting displays and photographs from their bygone era.

Great Family Fun

The only indoor swimming pool on the North Shore (between Sault Saint Marie and Thunder Bay). Venue offers various fitness programs like Aqua Zumba, Aqua Fitness, Lunch Lengths etc. Family swim is great for families with young children!

The Marathon Skate Park is one of Marathons most visited attractions. Everyday various youth spend countless hours at the Skate Park. This attraction definitely had life and energy to it!

I have spent many hours in the Marathon Arena. This is a large facility with many amenities. Fortunately for hockey and skating parents, the bleachers are very warm!
