8 Things to Do in Nosy Boraha That You Shouldn't Miss

Idyllic scenery, majestic sea life, a…pirate cemetery? Surreal, serene Nosy Boraha was a once a retreat for some of history’s most notorious pirates, many of whom are buried here. The skull and crossbones-marked tombstones are among the Madagascar island’s most popular attractions. Equally attractive are the opportunities to sight amorous humpback whales, who migrate to the surrounding waters during their July to September mating season. Hiking, cycling, and reef-snorkeling round out the charming island’s appeal.

Whale watching tour overcrowded, unpleasant

The whales were magnificent. Unfortunately the boat was so overcrowded that some couples were forced to stand - and moved around the boat like ballast - to balance the boat, which must have been extremely disappointing for them, and caused quite a bit of tension on the boat as the guide told them it was ok to sit down but then the boat lost balance. One particularly rude middle aged man in red glasses decided to play teachers pet and created an aggressive atmosphere, yelling at the couples to 'stop smiling' instead of moving to the back himself! All in all I hope that everyone on this 'adventure' receive a full refund. We had seats and made the best of it, but it was extremely overcrowded and the boat did not feel safe. Very disappointing as we booked it from this hotel in particular due to the good reviews and did not expect them to treat their patrons like cattle.Thank you very much for your comment. The license of our boat allows us to take 25 people but as the sea in this season moves more, we limit to 17 or 18 people maxi unless it is a group. We are really sorry that it wasn't a great experience for you.On the boat the conditions can vary from one point to another, that's why sometimes we need to move one or two person.

a beautiful island and all the hotels have rooms on the beach. The whale watching is spectacular, we were fortunate to see about 8 whales the boat kept a respectful distance and we rode alongside them for quite a distance. Amazing experience!

The 10 Best Things to Do in Antananarivo, Antananarivo Province

Built on a narrow, rocky ridge, Antananarivo occupies a strategic point at the center of the island of Madagascar. Two forts watch over the city from the east and southwest, while within the city limits lay royal palaces, embassies, some fifty churches and a mosque. The city's most distinguishing feature may be the burnt out remains of the Rova, or Queen's Palace, situated on a prominent hill. Its steep alleys and stairways make Antananarivo a challenging but rewarding city to explore on foot.
