Extensive and interesting lunch menu
My wife and I had Sunday lunch here. The menu is extensive and interesting, ranging from soup and sandwich to roast beef. I had sweet potato soup and a goats cheese salad, both excellent as were my wife's choices. Service was good, given that it was a busy lunchtime. The prices are very reasonable, we paid under £25 for two courses each and a bottle of mineral water.

Used this cafe on Monday the 1/4/2019 my partner and myself and found it to be shabby and dated, ordered fish chips when it was delivered to my table the fish was not cooked properly and I had a choice of three different kinds of chips some freshly cooked then the reheated ones then on top were several black ones which I just looked at and left them, at £9-95 a meal and over priced can of cola at £1-75 paid and left to look for a fish cafe in Brechin, would never recommend that cafe in Edzell to anyone never. AllanDissapointing to read this review, please accept my sincere apologies. Monday April 1st was our first day operating our summer opening schedule, and as such had a number of new staff on duty. In any event no excuses, our food should exceed customer expectations at all times. We continue to invest in the decorative order of the property, to provide our customers with a pleasant ambiance and atmosphere, but accept this may not be to everyone’s taste. FYI, the cafe was redecorated in March 2019.Small businesses in Scotland are all under the same pressure of ever increasing cost, many of which are legislative requirements. Although we try hard to absorb as much of this as we can, it’s regrettable that some of the same must be passed on to the customer. We continually analyze our pricing and believe we offer a competitive choice. Can I request you contact the cafe where I will be pleased to arrange a full reimbursment of your cost.

An amazing Sunday carvery
We have been lucky enough to visit the Scots Corner many times and the food and service is consistently brilliant. Our most recent visit was a Sunday that we couldn't be bothered cooking and we remembered that the Scots Corner did a "carve your own carvery".We popped round and decided to go for the 2 course carvery for 2.The service from the staff was friendly and welcoming and the food arrived quickly even though they were very busy.We both had the roast beef and all the trimmings as a main and we were not disappointed. The beef was melt in the mouth and the vegetables were very yummy and lots of different trimmings to try out.We then both had the same dessert too! Waffles with caramel ice cream. I'm not a huge dessert fan normally, but we both said it was delicious and I polished off the lot!Definitely give them a try if you are in the area What a fantastic review. Thank you so much. We are absolutely delighted that you enjoyed your visit so much. Your ongoing support is very much appreciated. Kind regards on behalf of Sue and the team.Kind regards Zander

Visited this place a few weeks ago and thought, although nothing special, would give it a go again simply because of its location. Food normal cafe food but not good for vegetarians. Having travelled from Aberdeen (fair distance away) on a Tuesday we found the cafe closed for no apparent reason! Not best pleased as there were no indications on our last visit that it was only open certain days. Would think twice now about returning due to completely wasted journey. Not good customer service!Hi Alex,Apologies for being closed on the day you visited. We shut three days during the week for winter hours. You can find these on cards in the restaurant, on our Facebook page and here, on Tripadvisor. Please remember to observe our hours before making the trip again. If you forget our hours and find the cafe closed again, please be advised you can visit the Brae Cafe in Auchenblae, which is only shut on a Wednesday. These hours will be updated in April for Summer Hours, where we will open every day and an hour later every day.We hope to see you again!
