The food here is absolutely delicious and has a great choice of dishes. I’ve been officially converted to king prawns! Very chilled and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you. The chef even came out to us just to say hello and to check on our meal. Would definitely recommend!

Cold weather but warm inside
A freezing March weekend afternoon we took the bait and good recommendations to try here. Easy to get to and not where you'd think the place would be situated. Once your inside its unique with tables sat on old tyres and hay bales for seats.A good extensive menu and fairly priced and a kids menu.An offer was on where kids can eat for a £1.We ordered 5 meals with drinks for under £30 quid. The food was very good and plentiful and no complaints apart from the cold.We would recommend and return again.

Ok but not dazzling
It's a good local option, but only if you are a meat-eater. Having turned vegetarian a year ago, i look at menus with renewed scrutiny - if i have no options, i am a bit stuck. I found giovanni's did have veggie options, but not many, and not very imaginative ones. The veg risotto was a bit like a paella. It was fine, but i thought it was a bit of an afterthought. However, the service was friendly and quick, the other diners enjoyed their meals (i enjoyed mine as well; i just wasn't wowed by it), and the cheesy garlic bread was divine. I wouldn't go again until their menu changes, but I'd also not discourage anyone from eating there. It was ok.

Warm, homely and welcoming!
Quaint little tea room which was very friendly with home cooked food. The root veg soup was very warming on a very cold wintry day. So comfortable we didn’t want to leave. Ideal location on way to Daisy Nook Country Park. Only downside was parking but If a walker it is ideal to stop off for a hot chocolate!Thank you for your kind words, we are delighted you have so much enjoyed your visit to our tearooms. The area at the front of the Tearooms is for customer parking, so please feel free to use it.YoursChangiz & Christine

Would highly recommend this restaurant; staff are lovely and very attentive. Food is fresh and delicious and the portions are great. Favourites include their butter chicken, tandoori lamb chops and chicken tikka madras. Excellent value for money- never had a bad meal there

Nice curry n rice
We had a groupon voucher, 2 courses, rice n naan for 4! Starters were delicious (chicken chaat puri especially) we chose a chicken tikka korma, lamb dansak, chicken kahari (which was very tasty) and a lamb makon. All the curries apart from the kahari were only warm. I like my curry piping hot in temperature. However, the food is fresh! Friendly service but a little on the slow side as one of them did the deliveries too. They are having a food festival on 11-15 April, sounds interesting! We will be going to that! Nice restaurant, prices reasonable n parking on the opposite side (carpark). We will go back.

It's a vegetarian indian restaurant in Ashton under Lyne and is probably the best veggie restaurant I've ever visited! Superb food, very cheap and a varied menu!

Generally a good novelty indian dining experience but not exceptional
We regularly eat Indian food with a bunch of friends, making a point of visiting literally hundreds over the years (Including most of the curry mile & all around Manchester and beyond). My sister is vegetarian and we had heard good things about Lily's including the recent move to new premises. For a vegetarian only establishment the menu is huge. At this point I have to say my sister loved everything & I am sure will visit again. My issue is that the menu doesn't indicate that important variable of - 'just how spicy the item is' - or put another way making everything spicier than the competition doesn't make you more authentic or better - as Ghandi said 'An eye for an eye makes the whole word blind' - or paraphrasing 'A spice for a spice makes the whole world tastebudless'. ALL the starters including the vast selection we took home from the deli counter are so hot any flavour is lost - I would say typically at madras spice level. Even the onions on the chutney tray had a proper old kick to them. The curries themselves were slightly better being more in line with expectations (or perhaps my taste had been impaired by this stage). Obviously spice is something you expect with indian food - but the best examples have a range of heat and flavour subtlety that was just lacking here. Service and ambience was good despite it being busy. The decor & layout was excellent - although the booths would be a problem for people of a generous waistline. The 3 star hygiene rating was also a concern, especially as the starters arrived so quick it was obvious they weren't freshly made & had just been zapped in the micro - which combined with too much spice made them the biggest disappointment of the evening. So Lily's please add some guidance for those wanting less heat to their spice fix... often less is actually more if your ingredients are fresh and well prepared..... OR add a note to the menu along the "Please ask your waiter if you want to adjust the spiciness of your meal". We wont add Lily's to our curry night with friends as many like to taste the onion in their bhaji or on their poppadom - & have a max heat setting of masala rather than madras. It is a shame as you were so close to matching your reputation.Thank you for your review for Lily's.The basic point of your review seems to be that you find the food spicy, if you had read our menu properly then you would have read where we have CLEARLY stated 'Most items can be prepared hot, medium or mild, or with or without onion & garlic. PLEASE STATE WHEN ORDERING, there is a reason for this in our menu so that customers can let the waiter/waitress know what they require, we cannot read minds and don't think quotes from Ghandhiji are appropriate in this case. Our dishes are not too spicy maybe you require no spice at all, it a shame you do not appreciate authentic Indian food. Our hygiene rating is 5 STAR....no idea where you get 3 from!
