We liked this place so much we ate here twice during our weeks stay! The Restaurant has been very well done and has a quiet relaxed atmosphere. The staff were really friendly and very helpful despite it being very busy both times we visited. The menu was very French and the food was excellent. My wife and I ate off the 4-course menu which at €26.90 each worked out cheaper than buying all the items separately. The portion sizes were very generous! My daughter ate from the 3-course Vegetarian menu at €19.The vegetarian menu was quite varied which is quite rare in France(or so we've found). My son ate of the U12s menu which was the usual kids fare but the "Chicken Nuggets" were actually two home-made pieces of Chicken Breast coated in Breadcrumbs and were 100% better than any he's had before! The Crepes and Desserts were also excellent. On the whole we think this is probably the best Restaurant we've eaten at in France.OK it's not Michelin Star quality but for Traditional, well cooked,Rustic French Food this is the place to go.

We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze in our party of 4.A broad menu with fish, pasta, pizza, meat dishes and cheese fondue.I expected a small pan but it was huge! The fondue was fantastic! The best meal of my holiday.Service was friendly, toilets were clean, the view wasn't bad either.Best to book as it's very popular.I'd definitely go there again if I was in the area.

Unpretentious, simple, tasty, friendly, BINGO!
I had read some of the reviews before travelling to this part of France and found them to be very accurate.People are very friendly and helpful. Food is well cooked and presented well. Service is quick and smiley! My picky daughter (she wont thank me for saying that) only likes pizza, which they didnt sell. However, the hot dogs were a hit. Basically a long frankfurter in a french stick but hot and real tasty (she could'nt one on one occasion!)I went for the croc monsieur (sorry!) which was a very good OK but I have tasted better. On one occasion we just popped in for chips (we were staying in an AirBnB property in walking distance) which were lovely. An important tip: By all means grab a table and a menu to start with but the orders have to be made inside at the counter. Dont wait there for 20 minutes expecting someone to come to your table! On another note, a tip. I really believe that having put some small change in the tipping jar after paying for the mean, our future visits were made better. What I'm trying to say is, people remember little things like that and want you to come back. But please dont feel you have to tip as at no point in time are you made to feel you should. But if you have a really good experience, let them know, a little tip goes a long way....lecture over!!!Would I come here again? Yes I would. Prices were the most reasonable in the village of Doucier. Service was the best and food was just right. However, dont expect 5 star gourmet food here. Its well cooked and filling, enough said........

Pleasant although slightly dated.
We stopped here as we couldn't get in to pic a vert up the road as recommended by our eurocamp couriers. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good although we were a table of 8 so were seated in the back room which was very dated and lacked the same ambience as the main restaurant. The food was basic but very tasty - menu du jour was a bit pricy at €19. Service was good and our waitress worked hard to appease. An average visit in our opinion.

Exceptional lunch at a great price
This restaurant and cafe is a real find. Lunch menu at euro 12.50 per person for three courses of delicious food, beautifully presented using seasonal produce and includes a glass of wine. Olivier the chef/owner and his wife Lucie were extremely friendly and both speak English. Le Bouchon du Chateau also has a patiserie on site as well as serving coffee with homemade biscuits to enjoy or to take away. Highly recommend.

Quick and tasty
We got a table easily at 6.30pm for 8 people. Friendly service and English speaking waitress. Food arrived quickly - lasagne was good and chicken in cheesy/creamy sauce was very nice. Vegetarian pizza was odd with sliced carrots on it. Very busy by the time we left at 8pm. Popular with families with children - not a place for a romantic meal without children though. Flies not a problem but a rich aroma from nearby farm.

Nearly passed this wonder by...thank god we didn't!
Pootling around the Jura on the last day of our little 2 day break there, we were looking vaguely for somewhere to lunch before moving on (after 'doing' the Herrison Waterfalls). After coming to the end of another beautiful Jura glacial lake, we passed by - in the blink of an eye - a sign showing a trout on a line, and a crappy-looking car park, and some plastic chairs and tables. As I learn more and more from my wife's gut instinct decisions, I braked and announced that we were going to this sketchy place for lunch...As we walked in to the 'restaurant' we saw that it seemed to be a trout farm, and that presumably they were breeding the trouts that you would eat for lunch. Cool. The waitress approached, took our order - 'two trouts and chips please', and then coolly asked 'would you like to catch your trouts..?". Before she had finished her question, I was up and walking to wherever i needed to be in order to do this.Step 1: You take your rod (provided), and bait and start fishing. It took me about 1min to catch the first trout and 5min for the 2nd. Step 2: Try and grab fish off hook and bash its brains in with a truncheon. Throw fish in bucket.Step 3: Give bucket to chef, who throws ONLY vin du Jura over the fish (after gutting) , wraps it in bacofoil and gives it to the bbq chef.Step 4: You sit down and eat one of the best meals of your life, happy in the knowledge that you caught your lunch. In summation: the people, place, food, idea, concept, vibe were all perfect... thoroughly thoroughly recommend it. Difficult to find, but worth it...

No need to leave the campsite to get a good meal.
As we were staying on this campsite, we decided to eat out at the onsite restaurant, and were very glad that we did. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and even brought a high-chair for the baby. The food was good and the portions large, although we did have to remind staff a few times to bring drinks and dishes that we'd ordered. The experience was enhanced by a talented jazz combo playing for our personal entertainment.
10. Marigny Pizza
