Romantic lunch in Hell Villes only (relatively) upmarket spot!
We were advised to eat here by the lodge we were staying at and considering whats generally available it was lovely. The house wine was lovely - Italian, and while the local fare is simple it was well prepared and served with a smile. It also seems ot be the only place that serves certain Italian dishes like pasta and cold cured meats. Lots of expats eating here.

Great coffee, good service!
A good espresso is not easy to find in Nosy Be, but they got it right at L'Oasis! Good service as well and well-located, give it a try!

excellent lunch in hell-ville
We had langoustine and tomato salad with freshly baked bread and delicious freshly squeezed mango juice. Very cute atmosphere and service was great. Our server spoke English very well and was a pleasure.

Excellent French food in Nosy Be with friendly service
First floor restaurant in the heart of Ambatoloaka serving excellent French food. Under new ownership since the last 2 months.Service with a smile from a multi-lingual waitress - not a trace of arrogance! Menu choice for seafood was a little restricted for repeat visits, but varied enough to include things like ox tongue that might suit homesick Frenchmen better than the English! The chocolate mousse for dessert was superb.Slightly pricier than neighbouring establishments but clearly popular and deservedly so.

I have been fortunate to visit many poor countries and most have a real vibrancy within their shopping and food markets being their livelihood.I failed to see any of this from my visit. Meat market real dirty and fly blown, the quality of vegetables was really poor with spices wrapped in small plastic bags. The flys in this market were just all over the food. There was one old lady that had netting over her produce- shame no one else following her attempts to show a minimum standard. It was difficult to move without being constantly hawked. Not appealing at all and put me off food in the time I spent there.

We were still hungry
A large group of friens went, because it looked really nice from the outside. They had no menu cards, so they had to repeat their dishes over and over again. It took a long time for the food to arrive. The dishes were very small compared to what we paid, though they did taste good, and some of us went away hungry after eating there.

Service is fast and excellent, though the food itself is cooked to order and takes around 20 minutes to prepare, depending on the plate. The atmosphere is calm - like time stands still while you're inside. Out the window is an excellent view of the mountains and sea of Nosy Be as well as a beautiful valley of flowers and palms. Food smells wonderful (and tastes good too)! There's quite a variety of food here, from malagasy classics to pizzas. I recommend the cinnamon tea with a touch of sugar, it made my day. I've come for breakfast, lunch, and tea. Sometimes the food is prepared differently. The first time I came the mine sao was perfectly seasoned and had green peppers on the side. The next time it had shrimp in addition to the zebu but the sauce was on the side and there were no green peppers so it ended up being a bit bland. The staff is easy to work with though, so it won't stop me from coming back.

We had a good burger here (the bun was a little dry though), but we came back for "zebu on a stick" and we loved it ;)
