We were here in the last days of February when it was ice cold and snowy outside but heartwarming inside . The place is bar , cinema and trattoria in one , but in different spaces . One enters through the bar crowded with locals , here we ate a good fresh sandwich the day after . The trattoria is on the first floor and the kitchen on the second floor . A warm welcome in a contemporary setting , this is one of the few (!) places were one can relay on the suggestions of the owner . He is not pushy and suggests you the follow his recommendations .....so go with the flow . Up to date refined local cuisine accompanied by wines from the region . We had toast with different brands of olive oil , a duck paté fashion crème-brûlée with compote , pici al ragù , guanciale di vitello on a puree and two type's of cheese cakes ......ottimo esperienza . We have been eating around in Italy and this was one of our best experiences ever because of the total package . When in the region we will be back !

A fantastic Lunch and Wine tasting
We toured the vineyard; visited the private chapel; learned how to make pinci pasta; and dined at the restaurant. With each course, we sampled another wine, and had the chance to purchase wines afterward. We started with Tuscan Bread Soup, Pinci pasta Bolognese, followed by a mixed grille of chicken, ribs, sliced beef, sliced pork, and sausages accompanied by Tuscan beans. Whipped ricotta for dessert. The lunch was very satisfying; atmosphere superb. I loved this little restaurant. Enjoy!Dear Redeco, thanks for your kind words. You visited our farm the right way. Historical visit, wine tastings, cooking lesson, a good lunch. Thank you for your visit and we look forward to seeing you next time.

Great lunch spot
We happened upon this place, a charming modern caffe with a nice outdoor terrace facing the church. Surprisingly, a nice choice of salads in addition to pasta and meat dishes. Daily specials too. The food is above average to be sure. English and French spoken as well. Do not hesitate to eat here if you are in the area. Will definitely go back.

A Tuscan Jewel!
On a recent girls trip to Italy we were fortunate to be staying in this beautiful hilltop town and be right down the street from this incredible restaurant. The food is beyond fabulous! Seasonal and delectable! The owner/chef David is so talented and kind. We dined here several times and cannot sing enough of praises of this place!

Locanda di Casal Mustia; one of our favorite places in Italy.
Locanda di Casal Mustia and Castelmuzio are two of our favorite places in Italy. We have visited both several times over the years. This time we were just passing through & had a light lunch.First, the ristorante; the food is always fresh & is always very good. The service is always very friendly. The prices are great. The location (to us) is special. Probably the closest we've ever been to becoming "a local". Try the local wines; they're great!Second, the town; we absolutely love Castelmuzio. It's small, quiet & "untouristy". We stayed here several years ago in an apartment & fell in love with the town. Loved our shopping experience in the local co-op.

an out of the way gem!
My partner and I basically stumbled into La Romita while we were in the small medieval village for a classical music concert. Overall, it completely surprised us with its delicious food. This is a very unassuming restaurant, and basically one of the only two restaurants we saw in the town. The first thing about this restaurant is that it has an amazing view. It's perfect for a sunset dinner, because all the tables face the valley. (There are mosquitoes during the summer, of course.)The maître d' basically recited the menu to us in broken English. We tried all different types of food on his recommendation, which I definitely recommend. The antipasta plate was beautiful and contained only vegetarian items. There is a heavy vegetarian focus at this restaurant, and between the two of us, the vegetarian dishes definitely beat the meat dishes. There was a spelt dish in little croquettes that was absolutely fantastic. This restaurant is quite the little gem of a find. Very local and very authentic. Because we didn't see a menu, we were complete tourists and ordered a Caprese salad, to which he scoffed at me and said they don't make mozzarella cheese here so why would he serve that here. I learned that factoid, all right!Definitely recommend if you're in town!

After hiking several hours my husband and I happened upon this trattoria. We were exhausted and very hungry. The owner could not have been more gracious and friendly. We were served fresh, very refreshing organic beer and the most delicious sandwiches made from local farms. A memorable experience.
