What a find !! What a chef !! What great value !!
Four of us recently visited this wonderful little restaurant in Neerpelt. It has character, warmth, atmosphere and a classy presentation without being in any way pretentious. It is a two person partnership with Patricia looking after the service and all front of house requirements. She is lovely and friendly and very efficient and attentive. Chef, Carlo Didden has a magical touch with his dishes. We asked for the Chef's choice of menu and waited to be surprised. We were absolutely delighted beyond our expectations. This man has a creative ability with food that I have seldom experienced....he turned out numerous and varied courses which completely explored the different areas of the palate. The quality of the wines served as accompaniment to these dishes was also first rate. I don't know how many top quality chefs there are in Belgium but I'm certain that Carlo is amongst the best of them. For this quality of food, wine and service together with a lovely comfortable ambience we expected to have to pay a lot but were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices are. If you appreciate quality food and wine presented and served with class without breaking the bank, then you will have to go a long way to beat Bella Via. We will certainly be visiting again.

The dinner started with delicious 'amuses'. The lobster soup is excellent was nearly sufficient as a full meal considering the juicy pieces of lobster in it; a real treat. The white asparagus with either ham or salmon were great too. Friendly service, great value for money in a posh environment.

Fantastic Italian food in splendid surrounding
For the first time visited the relatively new Italian restaurant l'anima in Neerpelt. In an old villa with magnificent gardens we were treated a delicious 4-course menu. Hospitality of all personnel was great. Some of my guests preferred a different antipasta which was no problem at all. The explained all dishes as well as well as the origins of the wine in a clear and nice way. At the end of the evening the owner, with Italian Calabrese roots, came to visit every table and did some small talk. The total picture of food, hospitality, building, garden and the perfect pricing made it a joy for all of us. For certain we will come back to this restaurant

Went several times to have a seat and chat over a cup of coffee. The coffee is not great, but definitely not unpleasant. It's possible to take a lunch - all homemade and on one day of the week, you can come extra early : they open before sunrise because of the market which takes place every saturday.

You won't find a steak this good any cheaper in Belgium!
One might think it strange to have Mexican/American food in Belgium, but hey, if you're out near Neerpelt for some reason and you don't know what's good, then the colorful Rodeo is a nice place to go! Latin music is always playing there. Happily, the menu is in two languages (English and Dutch) so you know what you're ordering even if you haven't learned the native language of Flanders yet, and the waiters/owners all speak English; they are very nice people. It's the only place I've found over here that you can get American-style burgers; everywhere else I've been has pretty poor-quality burger meat (not steak; the steak is always great quality). Their fajitas are also much beloved over here, but personally I almost never go to Rodeo for anything but a 250 gram tenderloin steak with garlic sauce because it is lovely. (They also have regular steak for a much cheaper price available, and sirloin as well.) As a side you can choose from a number of options including a baked potato, a loaded baked potato, fries, seasoned potato wedges, and chili. You can read their menu online in advance, by the way.Bear in mind that in Belgium (and probably Europe in general) water isn't free at a restaurant; every place assumes you want the bottled stuff. For dessert, a dame blanche is a nice choice--it's a sundae with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce--or you can get things like Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, etc. Enjoy!
