The Centre is located in the cultural park at Karljohansvern. The Centre took over the former infirmary of the navy and changed it into a museum exhibit comprising authentic surroundings and trades of the near past, such as cobbler workshop, forge, carpenter workshop, classroom, grocery store, to mention a few examples. The centre has its own reading room with library consisting of an archive of photographs, drawings, maps, newpapers, documents and books. What a nice place to spend a day with your kids!
We visited Buggegården a few weeks ago. What a nice place for children and adults. Really good and friendly service. The kids enjoyed contact with the animals at the farm. You can ride a horse, cuddle rabbits, see the pigs, cheep, duck, hens and so on. Pl

Ferries between Horten and Moss
The ferry is not to bad, but the food sold in the cafeteria is expensive and medium quality. The trip do not last very long between the two cities, so no real reason to buy food in the boats restaurant.

Amazing place with something for everyone!
This is a beautiful park located only a short distance from beautiful Åsgårdstrand. It is near the fjord and is beautiful for kids to play. There are walking paths so visitors can easily view the many Viking graves in the park, and also has a fun visitors

The coastal path "Kyststien" is recommended
The best place to start on the coastal path is at Borre church (Borre kirke). Good parking, and then walk towards Åsgårdsstrand. Really a recommended trip to go. Takes about two hours, return trip. One hour one way.
