Must-do attraction while in Liepaja

There are two sections of forts, the northern section and a more southern section, closer to the long pier.Out of the two, the northern section is showcasing more fortification ruins. It is a bit trickier to get to. We took a Taxify ride from city center.

St. Nicholas Orthodox Sea Cathedral

This monumental symbol of both the Orthodox Church and the tsarist monarchy must have been at odds with communist doctrine and no doubt a thorn in the side of the party devout. Finished in 1903 and christened by Nicholas II himself, it served as the garrison’s church much as it did during the Latvian period. The Soviets however used it as a warehouse, gymnasium and meeting hall.

Interesting, very Russian!

Impressive and spectacular from the outside. Inside is ornate too, traditional Russian Orthodox Church in the middle of Karosta and well restored. Don’t expect much by way of tourist information though. Visited in Maundy Thursday when it was being cleaned

For small donation you can walk up in tower and take fulfill wiev on city - from lake to sea, it`s amazing. there is very interesting mechanism of clock and will to enjoy, how time is go. The sounds of the oldest organ are magic.
