Beautiful setting, a bit carelessly renovated

This is one of the best spots around Kapan, and the priest is a gem. If he is around he will give you a tour and you will actualy love this place although renovation has distorted some of the fine features of this place.

Hard to find and hard to reach fortress!

This is not an easy fortress to reach; it sits on top of a 1438 meters high ridge. We went there end of September 2016 and the weather was rainy, cold, and foggy on that day. It was so foggy that we almost climbed the mountain facing it.You start hiking u

Краеведческий музей Капана

Краеведческий музей в Капане достаточно большой. На экскурсии рассказывали, что 4 года назад выделяли средства в размере 100 млн драм на капитальный ремонт двух корпусов музея. Достаточно любопытная экскурсия получилась.

Areni (Armenian: Արենի; formerly Arpa) is a village in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. It is best known for its wine production, although the majority of wine produced locally is from the nearby village of Getap. The church of S. Astvatsatsin is a single-nave two-aisled domed Armenian church completed in the year 1321, and is located atop a plateau overlooking the Arpa River and Areni.
