Best meal in Osaka
We come here for our final meal and were amazed by the quality of the food, staff and experience. It has american in the title but has japenese routes which suited us perfectly. Our waiter Riku Maekawa helped make our experience by providing excellent service. We had some complementary extra courses with our meals which was the cherry on the case. Couldnt recommend the place more highly!

Amazing pasta and hospitality!
Found this restaurant when looking through food blogs — people raved about the pasta in this family owned restaurant. I messaged the restaurant through Facebook a month before we were in Japan, and they were happy to confirm our reservation. The restaurant is located in the Kita distract (newly relocated), and not very central to the tourists areas in Osaka, but we took a cab and upon our arrival, the server excitedly welcomed us into the restaurant as he had been at the window waiting for us. The restaurant is small, with only 5 or 6 tables, and is super cozy and warm. Chatting with our server, we learned that his father had trained and lived in Rome, Italy earlier in his life. His mom and him ran the front of house, while his father made and cooked all the fresh pastas. For one of our dishes, the server showed us a pasta board and explained that his father had designed it himself in order to create thinner strips of pasta. He then demonstrated and made our pasta table side, which was then used the most delicious squid ink cuttlefish pasta! We also ordered the egg carbonara, as well as the pesto pasta which was created with cute little stamps. We finished dinner with a chocolate ganache that was decadent without being too sweet. We absolutely loved our experience here, and loved seeing the heart and passion that is behind this family-run business. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you want a break from traditional Japanese cuisine, and opt for some authentic Italian pastas made with soul.

Terrible, staff rude and hard to find.
Went to this restaurant because of the reviews, when walked in the staff were rude, the place was small and didn’t look clean. The food was not fresh and we didn’t feel very well afterwards. The restaurant also was very hard to find (poor signage) and seemed to be situated in a red light district. I definitely would not recommend and wouldn’t waste time going there. Better restaurants in Namba Osaka. What a huge disappointment !! Waste of money.

Umai! Great place for a really “local” meal...
We chose here because the okonomiyaki lovers among us could have one (or more) of the delicious varieties available, whilst the meat eaters could have a plate of meat teppanyaki - and we could all share a yakisoba, yakionigiri, edamame, salad....okay, we ate heaps. And the bill came to just over ¥10k for four of us! Really loved it. Small place so if you are a larger person may ask for a seat with space... am sure they’ll oblige!

The dishes we thoroughly enjoyed were - their famous okonomiyaki with tomatoes and the beef steak. We also tried their normal beef okonomiyaki which wasn’t too bad either. Overall their service was friendly & helpful and the speed of delivery decent considering how busy they were. Be prepared for a line so get in early. If not you can reserve after 8pm.

Not sure it’s worth the hype
For the cost 5,800¥ pp I’m not sure it was worth it. The first round of meat was nice with good variety. Cooking it yourself at the table was a fun experience. The staff were very lovely and attentive and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. The Caesar salad as a side was nice. Still stuck on the price though...

A must in Osaka!
My wife and I went to Ōsaka as part of our honeymoon trip to Japan! We, of course, loved Japanese food, but we also wanted to try other restaurants since there are so many to choose from in Japan. La Fonda was without a doubt the BEST one we went to! The food is 100% authentic! We ordered micheladas, agua de horchata and agua de Jamaica to accompany our food, and they were amazing! We also had pozole, tostada de ceviche and guacamole as appetizers! The taste was incredible! We also ordered tacos: Chorizo, al pastor and carne picada They were wonderful!!!The place is very cozy and it looks just like a Mexican Fonda!! The owners were extremely nice! They tried to speak Spanish to us, as I’m from Spain and my wife is Mexican-American. This was the absolute best dining in Osaka! We fully recommend it!!

Must visit restaurant
Everything written about this great udon restaurant is true. The pork cutlet curry udon and the tempura udon are really tasty. And at around USD10 per portion, it’s really good value. And it’s popular so be prepared to queue. There’s an English menu. The staff are really friendly.

Very pleasant and fancy place to eat. Had a complementary cold tea that was lovely. Ordered ramen and it was very flavoursome. My gory friend instead ordered pork fried rice and wasn't a fan at all. Gyozas were delicious.
