From the outside place doesn't look like something special, but actually this is a great place where to enjoy a meal. Firstly, the waitresses are very positive, and welcoming. Secondly, the food is amazing. Very tasty restaurant class food for reasonable prices. In my opinion, the portions could be a bit smaller. If you have a chance, I would definetly recommend to visit this place. It's worth it.

We were a big group, 12 people but most of us ordered salads. That took more than 1,5 hours.... Service was kind but it did not feel professional. Some of the ceasar salads did not have sauce or croutons at alla. The only good thing was that kitchen is open late.

You can find a better place!
Horrible service and food wasn't tasty! - A bit messy atmosphere, waitress don't care about you (they seemed very bored and worried only about smoking break). Till the last moment no one tells you that you can pay only with cash. + A good view to town square

New Nordic kitchen i Cesis
Nordic menu inspired by the famous New Nordic kitchen started in Denmark.Really good taste, a bit higher prices than average for Cesis but not too high compared with the quality.Service was fine and serving quick. Very nice Scandinavian-Latvian interior. Nice cosy (medival) outside yard for summer visits.

It was - very unexpectedly - an amazing place to have some warm food when outside it's a snowstorm. The menue isn't big, but then again, this place is very homey and this is what makes it special. Food was amazing (one of the best pumpkin soup in my life - better only when my mom cooks!), the interior is also pretty nice. There's also a small shop with different stuff, and in summer there are some concerts. All in all, Mala is pretty much a center of artisic life in Cesis. Definitely recommend!

I am considering moving to Cesis to eat at this place every day!
Whenever I come to Cesis I look forward to eating sushi from this place. They are head and shoulders above any sushi place in Latvia, simply by not putting cream cheese in every sushi and by offering different sushi's time and time again. Their products always taste fresh and you can feel that they are made with care. Prices are very reasonable as well. The only "issue" is that they are a take-away place, so you cannot enjoy the food on the premises, but it still tastes fantastic, even when eaten from plastic trays. Definitely would recommend to have some sushi at this place, even if for a small bite. Trust me - you will be back for more.
