Bar Tasca Parrilla de Carlos

Great chef, geat location and terrific food

We keep going back. Don Carlos is so welcoming. This small restaurant clings to the side of a most beautiful valley and is in an ideal spot for walkers descending to Playa Santiago, and for those who love the location and Don's food. This place is unique and a delight. Don't let the menu confuse you or Don's broken english explanations - take a dictionary. The 'dumplings' were delicious meat pasties, for instance. Enjoy.

Junonia

Reviewed By Taround - Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

Best restaurant in town

Junonia is owned by the delightful Fran who, whilst from La Gomers, has worked internationally. His cooking, although based in the traditions of the island, is highly imaginative and bursting with taste. He is particularly adept at fish, and his uncle owns a fishing boat. The restaurant itself is stylish and his two waitresses are charming and efficient.

La Chalana

Upmarket “Shack”

Very good freshly prepared local food, much on the daily blackboard menu, was the theme of the pre-smartened La Chalana as it was in its less formal days when we knew it as The Shack. It used to be great to sit on the sofas on the edge of the beach, but now there’s a wood floor and a rope to separate the terrace from the beach. The roofed section now has windows! Even so, the best of the character is still there, so it’s well worth visiting for a relaxed lunch.

El Meson de Clemente

Reviewed By nagapie_eh - London, United Kingdom

Lovely dinner

Spent a great evening here and enjoyed trying the hearty traditional Canarian soup. Had delicious langoustines for main course and appreciated the generous portion. The service was very friendly and efficient and the view from the windows is beautiful. We stayed in Alajero for 4 days and this appeared to be the only restaurant that was open. Bit of a walk from the centre of the village but worth it!

One horse town

Not much choice here but after a spectacular walk what does it matter. At least the bar is open serving cold beer and coffees. The view is disappointing but you can sit outside. It is a welcome place to find on a hot day although we did not try the food.

Great Experience!

This restaurant is set into a cave at the roadside. We went here several times during our stay and always had a good meal. Staff are pleasant and the food was always good. Try pork chops!

RESTAURANTE LA MAREA

Appearance does not do justice to food and service.

Far from being just a pizza restaurant, this little restaurant serves great fresh fish, perfectly cooked. We had John Dory and loved it as did our friends who ate there later on our recommendation. It is great value also, being slightly cheaper, probably because of its location away from the sea front.

Decent snack stop

On the main square in playa de Santiago beside the taxi rank so good spot for people watching. Very good freshly made smoothies which were very tasty and not too sweet. Calamares romana were ok but a bit soggy. Had much better locally. Overall an ok convenient lunch stop.

9. Orone

Orone

Outstanding

La Gomera has some very good restaurants but with the exception of the Orone they all only offer Canarian potatoes or salad to accompany the chose main course. The Swiss chef at this establishment, provides delicious and innovative vegetables. The monkfish and prawns on a skewer with orange sauce, the Iberian pork with berry sauce and the correctly cooked tuna are highly recommended.Exceptional - well done

We did discover this restaurant a few days before we left Val Gran Rey. Our whole holiday we have used diner in different restaurants. In La Salsa it is only possible to sit inside, there is no terrace.La Salsa is absolutely and by far the best restaurant where we had diner. You pay a bit more for so much more quality in the way food is prepared and attention of the passionated staff.
