ASian Fusion at its best

I generally don't expect to find food of this quality and variety in a small town. With a great fusion of Asian and French cuisine, we enjoyed a very memorable evening. The staff did everything they could to ensure we had a superb experience, from explain the menu in detail, to recommending good beers!Het Raadhuis offer a varied selection of light snacks and full meals and we were spoiled for choice.

Sublimely fabulous!

Nothing short of excellent. We went for a full dinner, cava on arrival on the terrace with amuse bouche's which were excellent. Starters showed a flair for quality ingredient selection and delicate, patient preparation.Mains were again superb, excellently sized so to enjoy the flavours without being stuffed.Dessert was well presented and a superb selection of flavours and tastes. Well selected cheeses on the board but nothing special here.Complimentary wine list with enough to keep anyone happy.Service was attentive and friendly without being uncomfortably stuffy - I don't care much for the napkin folding and chair pushing lark.Restaurant is well furnished and decorated, a definite absence of bling is welcome. Relaxed and comfortable.A most pleasant way to spend an evening. Far from cheap but this is something you won't do every week.

Kwartelenmarkt 11

Among the best food experience in my life

We are an Italian couple that love traveling and eating. We do explore all different kind of foods around the World ranging from street food to starred high chef cuisine. This restaurant in Venlo has been among the best discoveries we've ever made. We went for the full menu with wine pairing. It's been a very rewarding sensorial experience. Quantities are generous but educate enough to fill your stomach. No worries about that, you're not bouncing here in a nouvelle cuisine style or molecular restaurant. Still, the plates are very well presented. Tastes are delicately combined. You'll find a lot of fresh vegetables too. Nice to find them! If you think food from northern Europe is all about fat meat and buttery sauces you're wrong here. The chef has much more to tell you about traditional Dutch food and how this evolved in modern times. Don't ask for a menu. Just follow the inspiration of Roel, you'll be delighted. Ok. As often happen, there are not enough words to describe something so perfect. Just get there and try yourself. Prices are particularly reasonable for the quality of what you get.

Nice but expections were not realized

Dinner in a Chateau. Who doesn't want that experience. We had dinner at this hotel/restaurant. We choose the chef menu but decided to have three courses. After the amuse, which was nice, we had the sashimi of tuna. Nice but a little overwhelming with different tastes. After the sashimi we had the trio of beef. A carpaccio, a filet americain and a tartare. Very nice but the sizes were big. After the second course we had the livar (pork) and the cod. The cod was slicly overcooked and the livar dry. Having higher expectations in advance voor the level if the restaurant, we were slightly disappointed. The service was very friendly and always willing to explain the course or the wine.

All-you-can-eat, but very good selection of ingredients and great preparation

This is one of those "fill your plate with a selection chosen from 30 raw ingredients and hand it to the guy behind the hotplate" type restaurants. Usually I avoid them but this one was good. The selection of ingredients ranged from many types of seafood, over poultry to beef and even kangaroo (yummy). Not only is the ingredient selection very good, but the guy behind the hotplate knows what he is doing.I had two plates and two glasses of wine and the bill was not outrageous. But as is the problem with all all-you-can-eat restaurants, the price-to-benefit ratio is still high for people who haven't starved themselves all day to maximize the bite for the buck.

I'd you stay to long, the staff starts to prepare for breakfast. i don't like this. i have had the fazant, rib eye, fish. it is ok, but too expensive!tip: stay here at the hotel, eat at Kessel, de Neerhof. great food!
