Rude service

So I LOVE java. It’s one of my favorite places since I was like 8 and now I’m 20. So I was excited to try the NBO java. However when I got there the cashier lady was overwhelmingly rude and ignored me until one of the workers told her not to. And then half way through me speaking she turned away ignoring me again causing another 2 workers to tell her off. I tried to order passion juice but they hadn’t none (understandable) so I asked the rude waitress what other juices they had and she told me tree tomato so I ordered that only to discover it was a lemonade which I told her I she should have specified because I have allergies. I asked for something else but she said she couldn’t so I asked for the manager who told me my only alternative was a coffee and pastry which I did not want. He then tried to blame the miscommunication on me several times and never once apologized. After a struggle he dismissively and rudely said “fine! Take your money” The food is still great although my quesadilla came without guacamole..??

Nice Ambiance, Horrible Service!!!

It has a beautiful view of Nairobi National Park. The ambiance is wonderful. That is where the good of that restaurant ends. They pressured us to get the buffet when I spoke to management in advance and they assured me that I we could have a buffet or order from a menu. We were a group of 18 and they ruined our farewell dinner. They wouldn't accept US dollars but the hotel accepted US payment to pay the bill. It took an hour to order one plate of french fries. Other than the ambiance and the view, I have nothing nice to say about this place. I bring large groups of people to Nairobi twice a year. The next time I will be taking my groups of 14-20 to a different hotel for our day rooms and farewell meal. I won't ever be back.

Terrible service and terrible food

The service is absolutely terrible. There is enough staff but they are to busy talking to each other to care about the one or two customers they might have. Several menu items were not available so we ordered what was available according to the waiter. Of course, the items we ordered turned out not to be available either, but we did not find out till 15 minutes later. So we resorted to just a main course; the Mediterranean Platter. It was to have Humus and Pita bread; which turned out to be oil with cut pieces of chick peas and buttered chipati. In addition, it was to come with 3 sauces but it came with just mayonnaise and hot sauce. The feta skewers were falling apart and it took over 60 minutes to prepare this horrible dish. We complained to the waiter, the chef and later the arrogant non-caring supervisor but don't think our complaint went anywhere. We waited for a very long time for the bill and ended up just leaving the money as the bill took about as long as the food. Please note that there was only one other customer at the restaurant at the time we were there. I would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The best restaurant!

The Eagle restaurantFor lunch. On 4th floor , tables in a row along the edge and with magnificent view of the Park was the setting. We got a table not far from the pool at the floor beneath us which had a good band playing. When the waitress came they were playing so loud that it was difficult to hear what she was saying, which we remarked. After she had left us the volume decreased so she had perhaps asked them to put the volume down a bit.The meal was perfect, and those knowing me knows that I am not saying that too often. We ordered grilled lobster, with vegetables and pommes frites. We asked the waitress about the cooking of the lobster and she assured us they would be done to our liking. And indeed they were absolutely perfectly cooked. The frites were crunchy outside and soft inside, the vegetables were al- dente. After tasting the food the Chef himself came up to ask if the food was OK, and indeed it was. A big compliment to the Chef. For sweets, my wife ordered cheese platter but asked that there should be more blue cheese than the other types since she loves the blue cheese. I looked for ice cream at the menu, but no ice cream. I asked the waitress, Ms. Faith, and she said of course I could have ice cream. And when the sweets came they were superb and too our “specifications” What a meal! Excellent service, attentive waitress, perfect cooked food, fantastic view, and a god bottle of wine, what more can you ask for? Lunch next day, a Monday.Only set menu. Ordered haloumi. Small bits of haloumi but delicious. When we remarked to the waiter of the small pieces, the chef himself came up and asked if he could prepare some haloumi with the main. We said yes.The main today we chose grilled rumpsteak. We asked for medium to rare. And what did we get?Medium to rare! Compliments to the chef. And the rumpsteak was absolutely heavenly. It tasted meat! And believe me after the meal the chef himself came up to inquire, and we of course were very pleased. It looks like their chefs put their heart into the food. Kudoos.

Breakfast was very poot

I can only comment on having had breakfast their twice and it was bad both times. Apart from the cold collation table (breads, cereals, fruit etc) the hot food was not appetising at all, tasteless and not appealing. That said though, the staff were excellent and very attentive. Great Kenyan tea served too!

Convenient if staying at the Boma

We had dinner here several times during our stay at the Boma Hotel. The food was good, but they did not have at least three items on the menu every time we wished to order such. Other than that, it is convenient to staying at the hotel. Because of security issues, you would not have to take a cab to go elsewhere, and you save money. Prices are average.
