Charm, knowledge and location
One of the stops on our day tour of the Hardanger region was at this fruit farm run by brother and sister Ola and Heidi. They shared their knowledge of this working fruit farm, its history and showed us around the orchards, explaining about the crops and more in a fun and interesting way. Afterwards, before starting on the walk back down to our bus on the main road, we were served fresh apple juice from the farm oudoors in the gorgeous weather and above spectacular views of the Hardanger Fjord. Charming!

Fresh and authentic Thaifood. Popular and reasonable priced. If you have something in mind that we don't have on the menu, we'll most likely make it if we have time.

Genuine Family Farm
The farm has been in the family for 8 generations and grows a wonderful array of fruit and berries. We were welcomed by the brother and sister who own and run the farm and cafe/store. While tasting apple cider, they told us of the history of the farm and making apple cider. Heidi is also "famous" for her apple pie - now makes and sell 9000 pies a year! They are truly delightful people, hardworking and both have a wonderful sense of humour - the visit was a highlight of our tour of Norway.Than you so much for your visit Valerie! It was so Nice to read Your review. Thank you so much for Your Nice Words! Welcome back sometime!

Best Restaurant in Norheimsund
We had few expectations of getting a good meal in Norheimsund based on the limited restaurant options listed on TripAdvisor. We were tired, with jetlag and a long drive from Oslo, so we would have been satisfied with pretty much anything. To our pleasant surprise, Thon Hotel Sandven had a very good restaurant, that surprisingly, was not listed on this website. We had three mains - risotto with scallops & prawn, baked halibut with spinach & beetroot puree and spare ribs with potato & corn. The halibut (which was recommended by our server) was excellent - the flavourful fish well complemented by the beetroot puree. The risotto was also very good. The ribs were adequate but not special. For dessert we had creme brulee and local strawberries & cream. We would recommend the strawberries. We would also highly recommend the apple juice from a local farm that's on the menu.Overall, a satisfying meal that did not break the bank. Probably the best eating place in Norheimsund.
6. China House

China house was located right next to our hotel. We grabbed a quick take away main course. It was good but lacked flavor we are used to. We picked a meal that was noted as spicy but we had to add soy sauce and chili oil to bring out flavor.Maybe it’s Norwegian style being healthier w less salt and we are used to more unhealthy Chinese at home.Food was quick and ready for pick up in under 10 min from time we called it in.

We were in Norway visiting friends, and our hostess raved about this little place that her friend had just opened. I ordered the delicious marzipan cake - it was hard to choose from all the tempting delicacies (I added a photo of it) with coffee, and husband & kids all had softis ice cream with cocoa powder. Yum! We took it outside to the lovely scenic square which has tables set up in beautiful downtown Norheimsund, Norway. It was a gorgeous day. It had just opened up & the place was was full but service was very efficient! (This was fall of 2013) Although the owner was very busy, when things slowed down she came out & freshened our coffee and chatted a bit with our group. A lovely way to start our morning, have lunch or end your day. Wish I was there right now! As an aside, there is lots of lovely shops just a few steps away so plan to spend some time in this beautiful & scenic town. Highly recommend!

Nice cafe on the way to the falls
Norheimsund was not a place we intended to stop, but travelling with a baby will do that. We came to the cafe and the staff were friendly with lot's of seating available. We sat outside and had a great view of the bridge and surrounding water ways. The coffee we had was nice, but was way to hot to drink. The biscuits we bought were nice. Made for a nice spot to sit and relax.

Warm and inviting
We visited in March with a group and were served apple cake and coffee. Lovely Hardanger music reverberated in the small rooms from the musician who played the accordian for us. We strolled around afterwards and had a look around the farm. The weather wasn't great that day, but the warmth in the rooms from the fireplace and our host couldn't have been more welcoming.

A quick snack in a historical place
We stopped off here for quick snack while on tour of Norway. Had a plate of chips(quick service and greatly enjoyed) and drinks and were interested at all the history: a Scots/ Norwegian balttle took place here in 1612 and there are books available and a big oil painting.
