Not quite up to expectation

Had dinner here on a hot evening last month. Place was busy so needed to sit inside..very hot. They were busy but service was unbelievably slow and the meal, with 3 children under 7 took 3 and a half hours.Had the set dinner with 2 pasta courses..both of which didn't quite hit the mark..the first flavoured with something green foraged which lent the dish a slightly strange undertone and the second with a rather floury sauce. The beef was good but the pork dish was slightly odd with oriental overtones. The guys constantly apologised for the long delays.Maybe lunch would have been more relaxed.Dear TS33, we are sorry for the delay. We prepare our dishes at the moment only with fresh products, so if the restaurant is full we need a sufficient time to guarantee the best result. In that nights we always tell it to our clients at their arrive and ask them some comprehension, so we thank you for your patience and we hope to see you again soon. Famiglia Tombolini

A great place - relaxed and informal

We weren't sure what to expect - but this isn't a typical restaurant - you go to the counter, order your food and drink and wait to be called when it's ready - a bit canteen like - but freshly cooked to order and a 20 minute wait on a busy Friday night. As English holiday makers, we would have appreciated a menu translation - it specialises in pork, but there is also pasta and chicken available.Strangest thing to us was that you don't pay when ordering, you have to go back and pay at the end - and queue again if it's busy - which is a bit bonkers to our way of thinking - but hey ho, you have to go with the flow - and it allows you to go back and add more to your order if you want more drinks or desserts.

Just got home and eaten two Gaviscon and still burping

I was looking forward to this as I love fish and it is not too far from where I live. The views are lovely and the tables outside give a view over sunflower fields which look great at this time of year. The menù is small, which is usually a good sign, but two of the seven dishes on it had fish which was either not fresh (tinned anchovies) or salmon (not caught in Le Marche last time I checked).I had the pan brioche with burrata and anchovies which was good and the best part of the meal and my husband drew the short straw and had the cream of potato with crispy fried octopus. This was a bowl of underseasoned potato and cream with tiny pieces of crispy fried octopus (not crispy) and dots of tomato pesto and green pesto. I had thrown up warning bells when the waitress arrived with salt and pepper with the olive oil when we arrived! Does the kitchen have no skill in seasoning? Judging by what followed apparently not.We then had a calamarata , pasta with a tomato sauce and squid. I live in Italy and like my pasta al dente but this could have done with another minute and there was a tiny amount of calamari. It was however a million times better than my snapper with crispy vegetables. The plating up was lovely and when it arrived i was looking forward to it. The two types of beans were overcooked to a mush and the peas at this time of year I would hesitate to say were fresh especially as they were baby peas. The snapper was fresh but had bones and the odd scale but the overwhelming taste was of the chopped sage with which the snapper had been liberally adorned and you could tatste noting else. Neither of us could finish.I can't understand where the good reviews have come from but we will not be back. There are so many excellent ristorante in this region who deserve custom more.

Let's Hope They Get Better WIth Practice - Service Needs to Catch Up to the Beer!

Don' judge a book, or a BEER, by its cover. The facade of the Birreria looks great…really inviting. You enter and the harsh lighting is masked but he smartly designed interior and the patrons enjoying a cold one. But, NOBODY welcomes you. The staff walk RIGHT BY YOU as if you were a bar stool. The bartender doesn't even look up from his taps. The waitresses have obviously not been trained. The owner or manager looks, between apologies, to be interested only in uttering a hospitable word to the occasional person he may know from the neighborhood. We stood there for 15-20 minutes before they delivered two pints of ale -- not food, mind you, just two pints. We had to go the bar 3 times to order/reorder them. The poor bartender was beside himself, stressed out at having to pour pints for a ⅔ full bar -- huh? I know this is Italy where Italians accept bad service as standard operating procedure. But, even my Italian companion couldn't believe the lack of hospitality and the time it took to get two beers. It was as if they had to go to Germany and get some hops so they could brew our beers. I salute the owner's initiative, he's doing something out-of-the-ordinary for the area, BUT he needs to pay as much attention to his service, his staff and his customers as he does to his very good micro-brew ales and beers. Let's hope the service and hospitality catch up to the beer.

Nice food in a lovely setting

Stumbled upon this place one lunchtime and can honestly say we weren't disappointed. On arrival it looks like people are just having picnics but go further in and you find it's actually a restaurant in a lovely wooded area.We were shown to a table and even advised where the shaded areas were to eat.We had pastas which were all fantastic but really smell of the BBQ meats made us want to sample that too. We were tempted into a lovely desert of Tiramisu also followed by coffee. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is great.

Nothing better anywhere, especially for vegetarians

I have reviewed this restaurant before but it just gets better every year. If you are a vegetarian, this IS the place for your fine dining. The food is local, imaginative, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. My favorite dish is the 5-course tasting of appetizers but it's all just amazing.

More Courses of Food than I have ever seen

We were at a wedding rehearsal dinner at Da Rosa and I thought we would pop....there were 10 courses plus coffees, fruit and wine and liquors. Italian weddings really are celebrated in a big way and I cannot figure out how the bride stayed so slim and beautiful. But no one could eat like this and live long (as George IV of England discovered with his 48 course meals) but I digress. The wine was superb, as were course of pasta, which I liked best, vegetables, salads, chicken, pork, beef, etc. The regular menu was, of course, shorter and all the tables were full of locals and visitors enjoying the fare- this is the best restaurant in Loro Piceno. I would certainly go again for a regular meal but may need time to recuperate from the wedding feast.

Fanatastic, food, quality, ambience and service and price

This little alimentari sells locally produced top qualty cheese, meats, wines and assorted goodies and also has a little informal eating area with really cool modern industrial design set into a traditional old building really sympathetically. The menu is limited to an assortment of super sandwiches, an assorted board of cheese, vegetables and cured meats (some made on the premises: the ciauscolo is exceptional) salads and a small range of pudddings. You can choose from the shelves of wine on display and they will serve for you. They have wines from some really top cantinas at amazing prices to drink with your meal as they don't charge a huge markup. You also get a container of home made crisps to go with your drinks. You can have an abslote feast here for two for 20 euros; home made crisps . a bottle of Napolini Rosso dei Monti 6.50. tagliere 9 euros biscotti with a glass of vin santo 2.50 2 coffees=20 euros. The only slight negative is they close early: normally 8 but nine if the weather is good and there are customers.

This restaurant is conducive to having a relaxing and an enjoyable time with friends and family. This is a family run establishment, with excellent home cooked bread, uncomplicated dishes, and they clearly derive pleasure in presenting you with each course. Wine is carefully selected, and even the house red & white are very drinkable. I can't recommend this restaurant enough...Booking is advisable, €24+ per head inclusive of drinks.
