Nice... but lacking
After reading such promising reviews I was really excited to find this place & try it. Opening times posted here are incorrect as it opens 14.30 on weekends (we arroved 14.20 so this wasn't too much of an issue)The owner is friendly & welcoming & suggested the special 5 tapas with just one main to share would be the best option. The fresh warm doughy bread with dips to begin was superb.5 Tapas : 1. Cheese wonton creation - simply fabulous & bursting with flavour.2. Filled peppers with fish & a salmorejo style sauce - creamy yet almost mushy texture.3. Garbazano - weak but good flavours although a little bit too oily.4. Chicken cooked in dates - second best dish on this selection, cooked tender with a nice sticky sweet glaze.5. Meat & potato - a fairly standard staple in an canarian restuarant, yet here despite being garnished with fresh thyme, it had no flavour or seasoning to it.While sipping the lovely house red wine, we almost debated leaving this place & seeking a main course elsewhere, however gave it benefit of the doubt & proceeded to order a filet steak with roquefort cheese sauce, veg & chips. The steak was cooked very well although nothing that set it above any other tourist place. Roquefort sauce made with oil cooked onto the steak is an odd choice as it almost dissolves into the meat (we were provided with a little extra helping.) Chips are hard to mess up, which they didn't. Vegetables??? - some cut up slices of garlic & a sprig of rosemary??Everything par the wine, bread & cheese balls was simply standard. Bill came to €53.If you are looking for something exceptional off the beaten track, keep driving. This serves more as a tourist trap more than anything

Astonishingly nice pizzas
Who would order pizza in an ordinary-looking Spanish place next to a petrol station in a small town? They'll just microwave something from the freezer right? Wrong. Seems La Morada has a real hard-working chef with a real oven. If you like 'healthy pizzas'(!) (thin crispy bread and not dripping with excess cheese) then you may agree that theirs are the best in Tenerife. Or to put it another way... I've tried dozens on the island but this place has my favourite!

Not on a Tuesday?
As this restaurant is closed on Mondays, maybe Tuesday is not the best evening to visit. We were about the only people eating, and the place was cold. We ordered a glass of house white wine each, which we thought poor quality. We came for pizzas, as it is advertised as a pizzeria, but the man who makes them was ill. It happens, I guess, but odd in quite a large restaurant that no-one else can do it. So we had pasta, which was really nice, except served in cold bowls so you had to eat quite quickly if you didn't want to eat some of it cold. Very little choice of dessert, but we had one between us, and it was nice. When we came to pay, somehow the Internet was down so we needed to pay in cash. I think the lady was aware and apologetic about the poor experience, but there was no reflection of this on the bill, which at nearly €30 felt expensive for a disappointing evening. We are spending a whole month in El Tanque, and would have eaten here more if the experience had been better, which is sad.Dear Sir, I am the cook and pizza maker of Pagani, as well as the husband of the lady who served you, I am writing to you from home because I left the hospital yesterday for something more and more serious than a simple illness. So while I apologize for not having satisfied, I do not find excuses but I understand that the staff and my wife were not on the best day and the restaurant opened only because we could not warn of the incident. From tomorrow I will be present again and operating in the kitchen, therefore, excusing myself, I invite you to come and visit us again and you will see that you can taste pizzas that will make us personate. In some situations, worries can not be controlled and unfortunately I'm sorry to tell you, you came in a black day for us.Really sorry, best regards Piero

Freshest Seafood on the Island
Having just disembarked from our fantastic cruise and wanted to get a real feel of Tenerife, our friends and I hired a local driver to take us on a tour away from the custom tourist traps and he recommended this sea side restaurant. He was not wrong. The hostess and servers have limited English language understanding but they had seafood cooking perfected. The food was so fresh that it seemed that they had just caught it. The wait time can be a little long as the locals descend upon this place and that alone shows the quality that you can expect. Take a moment and check out this local favorite as it will become yours.

Off the beaten path gem
Very small, local eatery, situated at the corner one of the main streets of Buenavista del Norte.Walking distance from the luxury hotel Melia Hacienda del Conde.Only few tables inside, so as a bigger group, we waited for our turn to be seated around half an hour. But it's worth definitely. Simple menu, with recommended by the waiter meat dishes, like grilled chicken, or roasted goat meat in a spicy sauce. The cold and hot starters were also great: green pepers /pimientos de padron a la plancha /, fried cheese / queso al horno / etc. Everything very fresh and tasty. Even the house wine in the price of water appered drinkable for everybody. The service is extremaly friendly and tempting, to come again. The final bill was surprisingly low.

hidden corner worth finding
This tiny restaurant is tucked away off the main road above El Palmar Tenerife north. The menu is understated - for instance cheese salad turns out to be a tower of roasted vegtables above a regular salad including apple slices topped with mature cheese and toasted corn crumbs in a honey dressing - delicious!

Well worth a visit
Situated halfway up the mountains in the northwest corner of the island, this very popular restaurant serves very good local food at reasonable prices. It's well worth a visit if you're in the area. If you feel brave enough, you might continue up the pass across the mountains. Some of the hairpin bends in the narrow road are truly frightening but you are rewarded by spectacular views of the mountains and the sea.

Hit the Ground Running
We’ve visited previously and enjoyed great quality pizzas. We’re visiting Garachico again and tonight was the opening night for new owners. Thay’ve refurbished the place and it retains its great pizza restaurant character with a fresh quality. The service is charm itself and the food, and particularly the pizzas, provided the same great experience for which we remember the place with such pleasure. Well done for getting it right from day 1 and we look forward to a further visit.

Great tapas for sharing
We had lunch at Los Pinos on 20 February with the family (two adults and two children). Really liked tapas: we had grilled shrimps, grilled mushrooms on garlic (fantastic!), canary potatoes with spicy sauce and grilled cheese. Friendly staff and great food, we were satisfied and would definitely go again. We found a table without problems at 12:45 but after 13:00 the place was full.

So Good We Went Twice ...
We very rarely visit a restaurant twice, but ...In this case it MAY have been because there isn't a lot of competition in Buenavista out of season, but we really enjoyed the friendly service, fresh fish ... and of course the wrinkly potatoes and mojo rojo that accompanies virtually everything in Tenerife. Our waiter was particularly charming and attentive - it helped that he followed Newcastle (as many islanders do given that United's Ayoze Perez is a local boy!), and his one trip to the UK had been to my native Derbyshire. Large portions - and a takeout bag for the unconsumed wrinkly potatoes!
