Great View!

This is a spectacular place to see the area. Sitting way above the town of Bancroft you climb this very steep road to access it and when you come to the viewing platform you are blown away by the view.

I'd just like to help clarify how to get to the chutes, so others don't have to repeat my missteps. The turn-off is about 50 meters west of the Route 28 bridge over the York River. You turn North (left if coming from Bancroft). Don't take the turn-off clo

Mineral Museum

There is a new mineral museum in Canada! The Bancroft Gem and Mineral Club Mineral Museum (Mineral Museum) is located in Bancroft, Ontario. Bancroft is in the centre of a unique geological environment that has resulted in many interesting mineral deposits, some of which were developed into mines or exploration projects.

Wow! I had no idea minerals could be so beautiful!

There is an amazing variety of beautiful mineral samples in this small place. We were impressed by the well chosen samples, all well labeled. It is, however, more a collection than a teaching museum. If you are an avid rockhound, you will be very happy.

Not bad for a small museum

I am really interested in the north country and the hardy inhabitants who made its history, so it was interesting for me. It gives a picture of the slice of life in earlier times.
