English Harbour is a natural harbour and settlement on the island of Antigua, in the extreme south of the island. The settlement takes its name from the nearby harbour in which the Royal Navy established its base of operations for the area during the eighteenth century. Its population is 759 (2001 Census).

For us the best about Galleon Beach on beautiful Freemont Bay was to get there by hiking on the mile-long Carpenters Rock Trail starting in Shirley Heights. The path follows a rocky coastline with a vegetation adapted to dry climate, thus plenty of cacti.

This is located in a period house in the historic Dockyard complex. It naturally centres on nautical and maritime history and unless you are really interested it can be seen in 20 minutes or so.

stunning views of Falmouth Harbour
