Floriana (Maltese: Il-Furjana or Il-Floriana), also known by its title Borgo Vilhena, is a fortified town in the South Eastern Region area of Malta, just outside the capital city Valletta. It has a population of 2,205 as of March 2014. Floriana is the birthplace of many famous Maltese, amongst which the composer of the national anthem, 'L-Innu Malti', Robert Samut; former Bishop of Malta Dun Mauro Caruana, the poets Oliver Friggieri & Maria Grech Ganado, the writer and politician Herbert Ganado and Swedish Idol winner Kevin Borg.

First time in Malta

On the cruise ship MSC meraviglia. My favourite stop so far. Clean, tidy and very friendly people. And unlike Palermo you don't get ripped off on the horse tours...

Not impressed!

We just stumbled across it and decided to get inside. We weren’t thrilled. It is perhaps a fifteen minute leisurely stroll from the main bus station yet seemed to be entirely devoid of tourists unlike much of the rest of the city. It offers some good view

Nice architecture

A former methodist church now housing a centre for cultural activities.Very nice neo-gothic facade.Situated right next to Argotti Botanical Gardens and Wignacourt Water Tower.

Lest We Forget!

Despite having lived in Malta and holidaying annually here,I had not visited this so moving memorial till now.The limestone obelisk commemorates 2298 Commonwealth Service men for whom there is no known grave.It is not far from the Triton Fountain and City

Maglio Gardens on The Mall

These gardens are located behind the Independence Monument and cover an area of approx. 2.5 acres. They are also referred to as The Mall Gardens or simply Il-Mall to the locals. Its a nice area with paved walkways, trees, shrubs, cacti, cycads and palms,

Interesting structure

A nice old structure placed right next to Argotti Botanical Gardens and across the street to Sarria Church.It's a part of a former aqueduct
