Drive to the top - gorgeous

You can drive right up to the top of Te Mata peak, there is free car parking there and you can hop out and take some pics. Absolutely amazing views from the top. A must visit for anyone who is in Napier.

Te Awanga Estate Vineyard

ROD McDONALD WINES AT TE AWANGA ESTATE The last winery along the Te Awanga beachfront before the start of the Cape Kidnappers walk is the 'Kiwi beach house-chic' styled building that houses the Te Awanga cellar door, home of Rod McDonald Wines. It sits on a rise well back from the shore, surrounded by vines and with a superb view out over the ocean. The tasting room has a high ceiling and an attractive timber decor, while the gently sloping front lawn is a magnet for picnickers. Famous TA pizzas and platters made up of fresh local produce are available at the cellar door.

Trinity Hill Winery

We welcome visitors to our cellar door, located at the winery in the heart of the Gimblett Gravels wine region. Originally a working part of the winery, the cellar door is an impressive space with 5 metre-high ceilings and a great view of our white barrel hall through a huge sliding glass door. Here you can purchase from our full range of award winning wines and a wide selection is open for tasting. You can even pick up a bottle or two of something special – wines only retailed through the cellar door – or take home a souvenir of your visit from our quality branded merchandise. Our lovely gardens and expansive lawn make the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic – you can make up your own platter from our selection of delicious produce. In the summer we often have live music and hot food available at weekends, just check the events section of our website.The cellar door team are a knowledgeable and friendly bunch who will guide you through our wines and answer your questions. They might even have a bottle of something “not on the list” for you to try, especially at weekends. The friendliest of all our winery visits. Very engaging lady who told us of her history at the vine yard. Sensible four glass (75ml) for NZ$ 15 with notes for enjoying at own pace The coffee is great as well. With hindsight should have tried the beers!
