Lovely place for lunch
We stopped here after reading the reviews, we were not disappointed, we were greeted and shown to a table, they gave us the menus and a bottle of water, we ordered the steak sandwich and open prawn sandwich both of which were delicious. The place is great too, lots to see around on the walls, even an old clocking in machine, brought back memories.

Great food, service and value!
We have visited on numerous occasions over the years but this was our first since the refurbishment and it was a lovely evening. It was pretty busy but luckily we managed to get a table, just. We received a really friendly welcome from all the staff that dealt with us. The food was lovely: we shared a starter of chicken wings and both had (different) pasta dishes for our main course. Both were really good: flavourful with plenty of meat.We washed it down with a very pleasant bottle of red: there is a reasonable choice of wines all at sensible prices.Overall a very pleasant evening. Couldn’t have had more friendly service with quality fresh food at a sensible price. We won’t leave it so long this time before we revisit.

Curry night with friends
On arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff and offered to take our jackets for storage which was nice gesture. The place wasn't busy on Tuesday evening so I guess we got good service. The starters, mains and drinks arrived promptly on our table. I found butter chicken bit bland, but my friends enjoyed their curry which was spicy as ordered. Overall good place to enjoy curry with friends.

Not as good as usual. Only seemed to be one person serving .Bring your own drinks service usually involves opening bottles. This time a bottle opener dropped on the table. Not the usual friendly greeting and service. Arrived about 12:30 pm and told need to order quickly as kitchen closing at 1: 00pm. Food and portions adequate without being special. Some of the party not too happy.

Came for a party bbq
We came for a 50th birthday but arrived early and had a quick bite. Food was fabulous. But what sets this apart from so many establishments these days was the staff/service. They treated us like we were valued regulars; so friendly and helpful. Will be back for a full meal for sure.
7. The Castle Inn

I believe the Castle Inn has been under new management for about the last six months and is gaining a strong local reputation for its restaurant.

A superb menu - stunning food!
The menu here is superb, lots of different and interesting dishes, with a nice twist and beautifully presented - not just pub grub. The chef obviously knows his stuff! The dining room itself is lovely with nice decor and a good modern feel to it. It’s very nice that the tables aren’t so close together Which means you’re not listening to the next table’s conversation! The staff are very attentive and the wine list is great. This is more expensive than pub food, but well worth it. An added bonus is that there is accommodation on site.Hello, Thank you for your lovely review. We really do appreciate you taking the time to write one. It really does help a small family business like us. Our menu is slowly evolving into our summer offerings, so hopefully we will see you again soon. Kindest regards Kevin

Excellent food & service
We had the 5 course tasting menu which was both beautiful and delicious. The service was excellent throughout, particularly from Arnaud. We loved the macaroons to finish and there was a great selection of British cheese.Extra points too for the alcohol free gin cocktail options which, unlike most other places, were given as much care and attention as their alcoholic version. It’s a cosy cottage style dining room but doesn’t feel twee, which it easily could have done.Thank you!Dear Nicky550Really glad you enjoyed your time with us. We do try to cater for all and happy we ticked a few boxes for you. We are always trying out new non-alcoholic cocktails, so on your next visit hopefully there will be something new and exciting for you to try.

On a cold, rainy Thursday the place was packed with locals and it is easy to understand why. Charming, efficient staff create a really welcoming atmosphere that is a pleasure to be in. There is a reasonable selection of well priced wine by the glass and bottle and a large good value for money menu. Sadly the large menu is probably the main issue as two of our mains arrived over heated and dried out by the liberal use of the microwave. The chicken and ham was chewy and needed a sauce whilst the lasagna had congealed and had none of the richness of taste expected. On the plus side the sea bass was good and the starters were a much better experience especially the soup which was lovely. We didnt stop for dessert. Overall not sure we would return with such a mixed experience.
