well worth the wait
This trip had been brought for me for my 60th birthday in 2013 - We had unfortunately had a number of cancellations. Speaking to other people on todays flight- this was not unusual but for one lucky family this was their first attempt. After so many cancellations couldn't believe the confirmation phone call the evening before confirmed the flight was ON. however due to expected morning mist the meeting time was put back from 0700 to 0800. On arriving at the site at Shuttleworth college we were met by the pilot Kerry and ground crew Olly . Today there were porta loos in the field but I don't know if they are always there. We then all helped in laying out the balloon but then the mist decided to come down more. It was touch and go for a little while but the mist did clear and the decision was taken to go ahead. There were 15 people on the flight but it did not seem cramped in the balloon. My grandchildren nd their parents were there to see us off and that made it extra special as they waved us into the air. We flew for about 45 minutes. Although the mist prevented seeing for long distances, we had lovely views all around. Kerry giving us useful information re speed , height and direction and answering any questions. We had a very soft landing in a field next to a factory . We then packed the balloon away and were rewarded with a glass of champagne. You certainly need to be patient for this experience as booking a number of days off work and having it cancelled is very frustrating. However if that is not a problem, the experience is wonderful
