Brand-new heated pool in Paris suburbs
NOTE: new address: 37 rue du docteur Roux01 80 73 00 50Bus: lines 189-190 / Clamibus – Stop: Soleil Levant. Free ParkingThis pool in the Paris suburbs has only been open about 9 months so everything is brand-spanking new. Its next to the Clamart forest above the town and can be reached by bus or a short walk from town - up a steep hill through the forest. It has an 8 lane competition pool of 25m long and 2m deep.Next to it is another pool that is used for children and water aerobics. Across from that is another 25M pool (without diving blocks) and a small babies paddling pool. All the pools are heated. Quite hot - 27 - 30°.There are two sets of change rooms - one for groups and the other for the public. There are coded access free lockers available in the public change rooms. With 6 showers each for men and women. The taps are timed press-button and the water is usually hot. There is very good access for handicapped people and wheel-chair access - including a lift to the stands. There is no cafe or restaurant attached however there are several vending machines which are quite good. You can even buy caps and goggles. Caps are mandatory in all French Pools. Its four or five euro for a casual visit. They have a website for you to check the opening times.Take note that Malibu-style swimming trunks and wetsuits or rash-vests are prohibited. Men and boys need to wear "Speedo" style swimming costumes. Topless bathing for women is also a no-no. If you're fed up with the tourist hoards in Paris and could do with some exercise... have a swim here and then go for a ride through the forest on a rented Velib (from the Metro stop at Issy des Moulineaux, I guess). You can ride from here through the Clamart/Meudon forest, where the Germans bombarded Paris during the 1870 war to the magnificent grounds of Chateau du Meudon - an old Royal Palace with a garden by Le Notre (Google "Chateau du Meudon"). There will be few tourists, only locals. There's an absolutely magnificent view of the Seine and Paris.
