The city of Grass Valley is the largest city in the western region of Nevada County, California, United States. Situated at roughly 2,500 feet (760 m) elevation in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, this historic northern Gold Country city is 57 miles (92 km) by car from the state capitol in Sacramento, 64 miles (103 km) from Sacramento International Airport, 88 miles (142 km) west of Reno, Nevada, and 177 miles (285 km) northeast of San Jose. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 12,860.

A Look at the Past

This is a beautiful setting with the Bourne Mansion? and one of the oldest mines in California that made record fines of gold. Fascinating history with great walking trail nearby. Don't miss. Often events are there throughout the year.

My favorite local winery

Love their wines, love their winery. Everyone is friendly. They often have live music on the weekends, on the patio under a cloth "roof" , next to the lake. Very casual - they allow you to bring your own ice chest with food, beer (even your own wine!). A

A very nice piece of Nevada county history.

A very nice place to go and visit. You can pack a lunch and eat on the picnic table's right by the creek. Lots of cool stuff to see that helped develop Nevada county.

GREAT LUNCH

My sister and I both ordered the fish and fries, I added a grilled pear salad. The salad was good, but the fish was among THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. Price reasonable and friendly staff. Love the setting, beautiful elevator.

Took granddaughter to see finding Dory. Old theater but clean very small restroom only one sink?(age) seats comfortable fee just like most movie theaters would go again
