I defy anyone not to find something to enjoy on this menu....it’s huge. Seven of us arrived to avoid the rain before heading to the Sculptureum. It’s downstairs overlooking the river beside the Farmers Market and we were there for brunch. The waitress was very friendly and very efficient. Coffees arrived very quickly. The huge menu is divided into sections - Something fruity, something toasty, something teenage, to share, leafy, brunchy, classic, with a kick, hearty and wrapped. On the counter were big muffins and scones. I had the daily soup which was tomato and basil with garlic ciabatta and very good.Seafood chowder was on the menu too. The wraps ordered were very tasty. The food arrived promptly and everyone was satisfied. On the way out I bought a pack of Matakana Market shortbread which were delicious. I would heartily recommend this cafe.

Much appreciated. Sounds like we ticked all your boxes and hope to see you again soon.( Along with the dog)

Very much ‘Style over substance!’
Travelling back we were looking for somewhere for a snack when we saw this place. Lots of outside tables, a decent looking bar inside, looked promising! We walked in, expecting to be greeted by a waiter, or someone, nothing. There were sandwiches and rolls on a table under a net and a few things in a heated cabinet.Still no waiter....what do we do?In the end we grabbed two nice looking sandwiches and walked to the bar, the barman who appeared couldn’t really be bothered?‘Can we have a coffee?’Answer ‘this is bar, we don’t do coffee’.Ok two sandwiches and a drink then, the Local Pale Ale was good, the sandwiches which looked good were very bland. There were several bars and restaurants in the immediate area, and I feel all would have been better than here.

Young waitstaff were friendly, efficient and knowledgable Water was quickly delivered along with menus and specials explained Second piece of luck was that it was Curry Night, and the specials included two of our favourites Thai green curry and massamam beef curry, which we promptly ordered Both curries were full of meat, beautiful fresh ingredients and packed with flavours Each dish came with rice, salad and a roti Serves were very generous A local Sawmill Pilsner and a glass of Chardonnay added to an excellent meal Will definitely return

SERVED TO PERFECTION
I have been to Ascension many times for lunch but this was my first visit for wine tasting and tour. I wanted something special, to learn something new, to try new wines and I was not disappointed. The property is beautiful and the wines are special. The host spent so much time with us and answered our 100's of questions. We took friends who were visiting from Canada and they said it was the best wine tasting they have experienced. We decided to make this an annual tradition for us and our friends.
