Excellent Vegetarian Restaurant.
We visited this restaurant for lunch on the way to Vythiri in Wayanad. As we had to pass the town of Kalpetta we decided to park in the Kalpetta Bus Stand pay and park area. The restaurant was just across the road in the market, with a signboard quite prominently displaying “Affas Udupi Restaurant”. They have their own dedicated parking as well, in the hotel compound. We went up to the mezzanine floor, which is meant for families. It was very neat and clean, though the tables were a bit close to each other. I went for the Kerala Sadya (special meal) served on a plantain leaf, while my wife opted for the Kerala parathas with cucumber raitha, from the ala-carte section. The sadya is a full meal by itself, and consisted of pickle, papadam, chutney, pineapple raitha, curd, 1 chapati, 2 vegetables, 1 dal, rasam, some banana chips, a little payasam and a small banana at the end. There were two varieties of rice; the regular white rice or the boiled Kerala rice. There was a glass of masala chaas (buttermilk) as well. It was quite a variety, and priced very reasonably at ₹120. Everything tasted very delicious. This restaurant is a must visit if you like South Indian vegetarian food. The service was also very courteous and friendly. We did not have difficulty in communication, as the waiters understood Hindi and some English as well.

Pit Stop : Bangalore - Calicut
We stopped at this restaurant while travelling from Bangalore to Calicut, yesterday. Scenic surroundings and a very cordial staff, is the USP of this place. The food is "supposedly" freshly prepared, as the clientele is very limited. I would believe it to be true. There is one more restaurant nearby, which also seems to be good. In short, this is a good "pit stop" before/after negotiating the picturesque and challenging "Waynad Ghat Section Roads".

Very Good Rooms
Rooms are very good and well maintained, however the food order from the rooms will not be taken beyond 9PM. About the restaurant below, did not have much options for breakfast. Serves Machine Coffee/Tea, More like a prepaid fast food restaurant. Masala Dosa delivered didn't have enough masala in it.

"nice vegetarian restaurant in the area"
The restaurant in Woodlands hotel is one of the best with excellent vegetarian food, nice ambiance and good service. The restaurant has good decor and is maintained neat and clean, We had lunch from here and must say that it was one of the best meals we had after leaving Ernakulam. The staff are attentive and though it took thabout 20 minutes to serve us the food we were not annoyed because of the polite way in which they behaved. Nice restaurant to dine with family or special guests.

Very neat and clean place. Service was great. The only thing disappointing was they take only cash, but that is the issue in most of the restaurent in wayanad. So be prepared to carry cash always.P. Having heard about the hotel food, we decide to stop over for lunch after our trip to Soochippara waterfalls. Reached here at around 2:30 in the afternoon, which is I guess a bit too late in Kerala for lunch. Much famous fish fry was over and the only option was fish curry meals. Fish curry was bland with not much spice as is expected in this part of Kerala and offcourse to suit my pallette too. ;-)In general the food was OK and I wish I could try their famous fish fry next time. Payasam was tasty which made up for the lost delicacy.
