Where to Eat in Yaounde: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Yaounde, a city of colorful open-air street markets and international embassies, is the second largest metropolis in Cameroon, and the country’s capital. Founded as an ivory trading post, the city still handles the production and distribution of some of the country’s main exports. The city is also a center of Cameroon’s culture, housing the National Museum, the AFHEMI Museum, and the Benedictine Museum of Mont-Febe, all three of which seek to preserve the country’s traditional arts and crafts.

I enjoyed the afternoon buffet a great deal. The Safoutier dining experience in Yaoundé is well known, particularly for its entrées and desserts. On this occasion they didn't disappoint. The pasta bar is also very good. I think it would be worthwhile if they also had a buffet towards the end of the day, so you could justify a heavy meal after work and not in the middle of the work day. Still a good experience nonetheless. The staff are also very polite and well trained. KudosDear Francisnm237,Thank you for your interesting feedback. We are verry happy to that you enjoyed your Hilton dining experience in our restaurant. BBQ. Chicken.....chef only!
We went here 2 evenings for dinner. The first one was absolutely the best grilled chicken we had in long time. The chef prepared it with an elegant mix of spices, very tasteful. Compliments. The staff is friendly and helpful. The second evening was disappointing. The skewer with fish was over cooked and had no flavour. The skewer with beef ditto. What happened? Well the chef was not working that evening. Thus: if you want a good meal..... assure that the chef is behind the BBQ.

This is an absolute must. Great setting, beautiful décor, cosy, elegant, etc... everything that you want to have a great night out. The welcome is immaculate, the staff are super good and the owner is very friendly and attentive. Then the food... Simply the best for the moment in Yaoundé. Nothing really for vegetarians on the menu but that was not a problem. The Chef made fresh Gnocchis with a tomato and basil sauce that was to die for... (okay we did warn them a couple of hours before showing up). Desserts are simply wonderful. I cannot recommend this place enough. Also has a private dinning room with sitting room for 6 if you're looking for privacy.

Good food bur poor value
Had a takeaway meal from this Indian restaurant. I chose three different dishes (paneer, chicken, dal) and it was prepared very quickly and the place looks nice and clean. However the bill was above 10,000 CFA and considering the portions (in particular the chicken of which I got 6 tiny chunks) I discovered once eating it feels bad.The quality of the food was ok but the value is just poor.

A Dazzling Cocktail of Art, Al-Fresco Dining and Stunning Food !
I ate lunch with a colleague last week while attending a conference in Yaounde. The restaurant, not the easiest to find, was simply amazing. It was initially quiet but soon filled up with a mixture of local businessmen and women, ex-pats and tourists. The gardens are beautiful with local works of art (for sale) adorning the walls. Service is discreetly efficient and we ordered from a wide menu including an intriguing "specials" blackboard. The food was faultless, cooked to perfection, and not overcooked, fresh fish just melted in my mouth. The wine list isn't huge, but we found a nice Poilly-Fume which hit the spot. The restaurant is owned by a lovely lady who chats to customers and puts her friendly, but firm stamp of authority on everything that occurs in her restaurant. This was such a lovely experience, if I'm ever in Yaounde again I can't wait to go back !

My favourite in town
The location is perfect (in the center), there is a parking and the terrace is incredible. The menu is attractive and you have a lot of options, and the foos is tasty. It is my favourite because of the service... the staff are the fastest in town considereing the slow cameroonian style. If I am rushing this is my first option.
